A Marketing Opportunity with your Professional Contacts

A lot of us find that the hectic pace of the business world tends to slow down a bit around the holidays, though for a few things will actually be busier because of unplanned events requiring immediate attention. With that anticipated holiday slowdown comes an opportunity to spend a little time with some of our professional connections who also are experiencing the more relaxed pace.

For example, the estate planning attorney or accountant you have recommended to a couple of your clients or who may have directed a prospect to you might be a good person to meet with informally. You can share ideas and questions about client situations and how you might best serve those clients going forward. This is a positive way to further develop your relationship, to better understand your connection’s approach to client issues and perhaps to learn a little more about what they do and how you can work together.

It is also a time to reach out to other professionals that might be helpful to your clients or could send prospects your way – in short, to build your professional network a bit. As we all know, sometimes it takes quite a while after we plant the seeds before the fruit appears but with the randomness of timing in life, sometimes your reaching out will be at the exact moment when you are needed and can help.  

Meeting with existing or prospective contacts can be beneficial simply by keeping your name and business top of mind with these professionals, encouraging them and you to reach out to each other when both you and a client can benefit.
